Confirmation
CCC 1285 Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.
For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."
Students prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation in a two year program (typically in 7th and 8th grades) at St. Joseph. The program meets on the same day as our K-6th religious education program, Wednesday evenings 6 to 7:30 PM. Year one of our program consists of working through the Ascension Press' Chosen curriculum. Year two combines three different Ascension Press programs: Altaration (the Mass), Encounter (The Bible timeline), and Theology of the Body for Middle Schoolers. Each session of Confirmation ends with a time in prayer and adoration.
